Fredericksburg Food Co-op is a start-up grocery store in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Located halfway between Richmond, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., Fredericksburg is a vibrant community with a university, a hospital system, a major league baseball farm team opening here in 2020, a significant history, and a growing, diverse population.

The General Manager will be the first full-time employee of the Co-op and will have a unique opportunity to make a huge impact by hiring an excellent staff, building great relationships with local producers and suppliers, and helping expand the community involvement work of the all-volunteer Board of Directors.

The Fredericksburg Co-op won the “Best of the Best” award at the 2019 Up & Coming Conference. Member growth has been strong and consistent at nearly one new member a day. Both financing and site location activities of the Co-op are very near completion. We hope for a Grand Opening in mid-2020. There is no time to lose.

The General Manager will be responsible for all operational aspects of the Co-op. This includes all major goals of our “Triple Bottom Line” business model (people, planet, profits). The General Manager will embrace the Seven Cooperative Principles, and will assist the Board of Directors in generating the necessary Policy Governance means and ends statements. The Co-op expects to offer salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
