Taco Tuesday: Classic Beef Tacos
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 tablespoon of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup of water
- Taco shells or tortillas
- Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, salsa, sour cream, etc.
Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Sprinkle the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper over the cooked beef. Stir well to coat the meat evenly with the spices.
- Pour in the water and stir. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the liquid to reduce.
- While the beef simmers, prepare your taco shells or warm up your tortillas according to package instructions.
- Once the beef is ready, assemble your tacos by spooning a portion of the beef mixture into each taco shell or tortilla.
- Top the beef with your desired toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, salsa, sour cream, or any other toppings of your choice.
- Serve the classic beef tacos immediately, and enjoy!
