Taco Tuesday: Classic Beef Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • Taco shells or tortillas
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, salsa, sour cream, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spatula, until browned and cooked through.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Sprinkle the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper over the cooked beef. Stir well to coat the meat evenly with the spices.
  5. Pour in the water and stir. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the liquid to reduce.
  6. While the beef simmers, prepare your taco shells or warm up your tortillas according to package instructions.
  7. Once the beef is ready, assemble your tacos by spooning a portion of the beef mixture into each taco shell or tortilla.
  8. Top the beef with your desired toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, salsa, sour cream, or any other toppings of your choice.
  9. Serve the classic beef tacos immediately, and enjoy!
