THE 2ND ANNIVERSARY OF OPENING OUR CO-OP
March 24, 2023
Who can believe that TWO YEARS have gone by since we opened our Fredericksburg Food Co-op grocery store!! Opening our store was the culmination of 5.5 years of truly grassroots efforts by hundreds of dedicated people in this community. In 2015 when this effort began, the Co-op was just a DREAM. Today it is a wonderful REALITY. We have said it before, and we’ll say it again, without the early and continuing support of these pioneers we wouldn’t have such a wonderful community-owned Co-op grocery store today.
Honoring the past is important. But we have no doubt that our BEST days are ahead. We feel that every time you enter the Co-op store. We’re thrilled to see the growing number of people shopping at the Co-op. YOUR continued support enables the Co-op to grow and to be a force for good health and a stronger community – a place where all are welcome.
Now it’s time to have some FUN. We love ALL our owners and ALL our shoppers.
We have planned quite a celebration – all focused around our CORE VALUES: to promote local farmers and producers, support our community, ensure environmental sustainability and be financially secure.
FRIDAY’S SNEAK PEEK: The 2nd Anniversary Celebration will begin with a preview on Friday, March 31st, highlighting our local farmers and producers.

Raffles: And we’ll raffle off several beautiful gift baskets.
Music: For your listening pleasure we’ll have wonderful musicians lending their talent to the festivities.

GREEN INITIATIVE: April, which is Earth Month, marks a fitting transition for our Co-op. On the recommendation of our Sustainability Advisory Committee, once we run out of our inventory of paper bags, we will cease providing paper bags to customers – due to their significant carbon footprint. Instead, we will work with customers on alternatives, including encouraging you to bring your own bags, and offering free tote bags made of upcycled t-shirts, cardboard boxes and a “bag tree.” Come and check this out and let us know what you think. We believe that together we can make a difference.
